Capacity Building for Nonprofits Workshop

Capacity Building for Nonprofits Workshop

What is a nonprofit organization? What is a board of directors, what role does it play within a nonprofit and what are the responsibilities of the directors? Have you been asked to serve or do you currently serve as a board member to a nonprofit? Are you thinking about starting a nonprofit organization?

If you answered yes, to any of these questions, then join us at The Roanoke Center on Thursday, Dec. 13 for a workshop lead by The Conservation Fund's own Tatia Ash. Ash leads the Fund's Resourceful Communities program, which provides organizational and program development, technical assistance and training support to a network of community groups, faith-based organizations, small towns and resource providers throughout North Carolina.

At the interactive workshop, participants will learn the details of what defines a nonprofit and what types of organizations qualify, as well as the requirements an organization must meet to secure a nonprofit, tax-exempt status. Attendees will also learn about the governing role and responsibilities of a nonprofit organization’s board of directors, including the financial and legal oversight duties the board provides.
